Wandering Around (open)

[CATxOFxICE]

Feathermist scented her brother nearby, and opened her eyes as his pink nose pressed itself against her ear. She sat up and blinked.

"Hello, Owlkit. What is the painting in the sky.... I saw. Of Blizzardpaw. Well? I have to know." The she cat's tail curled around her, her eyes wandered to the apprentice's den, and she helplessly watched the young white cat struggle.

"You know, Feathermist. We didn't send it; YOU made it appear yourself. You know, he can never become a full warrior, even at his youthful age...."

Her eyes lingered back onto the young Tom. "It isn't fair...."

"It's no more fair than the fact that I died before even becoming an apprentice!" Owlkit spat at her.

Feathermist woke up, the rain was still falling. She ran out into it, not caring. Her eyes wandered back up to the clouds.

She didn't see his eye. Owlkit was right.

Now she saw the real prophecy, the one StarClan had been trying to show her.

There will be a long rain, a short flood and sick cats. Heal them, new Medicine Cat. This is your first job.

Blizzardpaw was awaken by the sound of splashing out in the rain. He was quite happy to be awake. Thinking about the dream sent shivers down his spine. He looked out his den and saw Feathermist outside in the rain. He went over to her.

" Whatcha doing? " He asked.

[CATxOFxICE]

Feathermist jumped in surprise to hear Blizzardpaw's voice. "Oh! Hello there!" She sighed.

"I've got a sign from StarClan, nothing important though.... it just means I've a job to do, I guess I won't get time to hunt with you again - so make sure you practice hard for me, okay?"

The words clawed right into her own heart, remembering Owlkit's words. I know he can never be a full Warrior... but even I have my own Dreams. She shook her head, sending the drops flying from her whiskers.

"Go back to sleep, alright? Or atleast go back to your den - don't catch a cough." She inwardly hoped he did though, not to hurt him - just so that she could spend more time with him.

Even though it was against the Warrior Code for Medicine Cats to have kits, it felt almost like Blizzardpaw was her own son.

" I'm not reall sleepy, " meowed Blizzardpaw. Actually, he was, he just didn't want to go back to the horrible nightmare. He wanted some company to talk with. He was a little glum, he missed his parents and his intelligence. Sometimes, he fantasized about being normal.

Feathermist gently touched her tail to the apprentice's shoulder. He doesn't want to relive those nightmares, like Owlkit showed me.

"You can come with me into my den, if you want. We can talk, I suppose...." She led him into the den, making sure to keep away from the dried herbs. She licked her fur to wash off the rain.

"Do you want to stay up with me? I have all day to laze around in Greenleaf, it won't hurt." She sat down on her moss bed, and beckoned to an old bed where she used to sleep. "It hasn't been changed for awhile, but it'll be fine to sit in."

" Okay, " Blizzardpaw was led into the Medicine Cat Den. He sat on the old bed and looked at all the herbs, " Do the herbs ever talk to you? " He noticed the dried out ones.

" Are those the dead ones? " he asked.

[CATxOFxICE]

"The herbs don't talk to me, because I'm not a herb. Has a mouse or squirrel ever talked to you?" She thought of a quick reply for his other question. "Herbs don't exactly 'Die' because they're always the same, wheather still in the ground or," she nodded to a pile of roots. "They're dried out in my den."

She wondered where this kit got the ideas, she had never even wondered whether plants felt before. "I speak with StarClan, they tell me things, not the herbs."

[Dragonstar]

" Hm........ " Blizzardpaw meowed, He looked around at all the herbs. " I guess Starclan does tell you stuff. " He was quite intrigued by the herbs.

[CATxOFxICE]

"Yes. I know that it's usually a cat who has had a siginficant relationship with the Medicine Cat - such as a former Medicine Cat, or a leader." Feathermist wasn't sure why he was so interested in the life of a Medicine Cat. He, after all, was an apprentice trying his best to become a Warrior.

[Dragonstar]

" If herbs could talk, what do ou think the'd say? " He asked. He really didn't understand. His small apprentice head had all sorts of questions in his head. But he decided to ask one at a time.

[CATxOFxICE]

"Hm.... I think they would always convince kits to eat them because they help them get better, even though the herbs wouldn't taste good. Except Catmint would convince them not to eat too much."

Feathermist was confused. It seemed.... almost like when she was an apprentice - but her questions were always "Do you think this herb could cure this illness too?" or something similar....

[Dragonstar]

" Can I taste one? " He asked. He was starting to get hyper. He tried to calm himself by breathing deeply. His tail got a little shaky and he sneezed again. He growled at the herbs and sneezed again.

[CATxOFxICE]

"Huh? Oh, I guess... I mean, we have enough..." She paused and racked her brain for a herb that would be okay. She remembered Blizzardpaw saying he couldn't sleep. Usually, she wouldn't do this, but there was just something about Blizzardpaw....

She picked out the black seeds. Before giving one to him, she meowed, "Not all plants are eaten, actually the most common ones are chewed up and put on an open wound."

He's only seven moons, I think one should be enough.....

[Dragonstar]

" OOOOO!! PRETTY BLACK DOTS!!! " Blizzardpaw was now in his hyper mode: loud, talkative, and jumpy. He took all of them and shoved them in his mouth. " YUMMY! " He jumped up and started pacing around the Medicine Cat's Den.

" CAN I HAVE ANOTHER ONE? " he asked.

[CATxOFxICE]

Feathermist was startled, she shook her head. "Absolutely not! Anymore of those could completely stop your heart! Blizzardpaw, you need to be careful. Especially with Deathberries - they're bright red. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT eat them. Two or three could kill even a strong warrior. Herbs aren't always safe...."

She sighed, waiting for him to calm down. She didn't want to hurt Blizzardpaw, but he just didn't understand....
