[img src="i74.photobucket.com/albums/i259/ghostmuffin/duskpaw.png"]Experience:
Duskpaw sustains a delicate frame, a lithe build which wouldn't be much use for brawny all-out battle but is in fact very swift with long legs to aid her speed. She has a finely chiseled head with slender shoulders and an overall svelte body. Her fur still retains a bit of kittenhood fluff and is soft to the touch - a feature of her youth and willingness to keep up with hygiene. Duskpaw's main weapons in battle are her short but sharp claws and teeth. Her petite form and limited knowledge of warrior skills renders her almost useless in battles, though. Most often she is reluctant to leap into battle or use violence as the answer to everything; her soft heart forces her to usually turn down challenges of any kind, instead preferring to talk it out. Her entire demeanor is in fact friendly, her mouth almost always moving to welcome a newcomer, greet other cats, or ramble on about something. Duskpaw's eyes sustain a lively sparkle and usually hold an amused or teasing gleam. They are the color of the late afternoon sky as the day fades into dusk, a muted blue; the reason she was named.
That aside, Duskpaw is quite attractive. Her rich golden pelt always maintains a healthy luster [exempting the times when she is struck with illness]; her coat is dappled, many shades of honey all seeming to flow into each other. She is a tabby. Duskpaw's chest and belly are creamy, off-white hues. All four paws and her tail tip are white; there is a light snippet of gold on her right forepaw. Another distinctive marking of Duskpaw's is the small alabaster blaze between her eyes. Duskpaw is not quite the type to flaunt her beauty, but almost always keeps herself clean in high hopes of impressing her mentor and Clanmates. Her fur sustains a silky texture, though it is short and doesn't offer much protection; when growing in her layered winter coat Duskpaw for some reason looks quite awkward. That being said, Duskpaw is often absent during leaf-bare, trying to hide her once-beautiful appearance turned scruffy.
Duskpaw's mother looked just like her, a beautiful dappled golden she-cat with hazy blue eyes. Fernfrond was an excited, headstrong she-cat, feisty and outgoing. She wasn't that popular, though, because of her flirtatiousness and attitude. It didn't bother her. She was independent, and the only thing she needed in life to make her happy was herself.Personality:
It wasn't long before Fernfrond fell in love with a HollyClan tom named Badgerstripe. Badgerstripe was a fierce, loyal warrior, and Fernfrond both feared and respected him. She struck up a friendship with him and they ended up becoming mates. But another she-cat by the name of Leaftail was insanely jealous. Most cats had assumed Badgerstripe would be the mate of Leaftail; they had been friends since nursery times, and often acted romantic together. So of course Leaftail was envious - she assumed Badgerstripe had just gone with Fernfrond because the other she-cat was so much prettier than her. She was only half right.
When Fernfrond was pregnant with Badgerstripe's kits, Leaftail treated her like dirt, even when she moved to the nursery. Fernfrond could stand up for herself, but Badgerstripe eventually interfered, and it caused an unwanted rift in his and Leaftail's relationship. Fernfrond was horrified at what she had done to them; Badgerstripe seemed to be sad too. And Fernfrond knew he blamed her for it. Their relationship seemed to be on the rocks; Fernfrond grew more bitter than ever before.
Fernfrond was out for a moonlit walk the night she came across Badgerstripe and Leaftail. They were enclosed by the tall grasses of the meadow, winding around each other and brushing pelts. She listened with horror as Badgerstripe confessed he'd always loved Leaftail, not Fernfrond. He'd only liked Fernfrond for her looks and knew now that she was annoying, light-headed, and idiotic. Stunned, Fernfrond retreated to camp, just as her kits came along.
Fernfrond had initially planned to kill her kits - they'd remind her too much of her failed relationship with "that tom", she was sure. But it was a task easier said than done, and since it is a queen's decision to tell whom the father is, she kept her secret to herself. Duskkit and her two brothers, Icekit and Adderkit, grew up happily, without knowing who their father was. It didn't bother them; Badgerstripe never bothered to associate with them either. Leaftail was in the nursery moons later with Badgerstripe's kits. Fernfrond always acted resentful toward the queen, and the treatment was returned with full throttle.
Duskpaw became a warrior apprentice at the age of six moons. But her mentor always complained that her head was in the clouds; they claimed Duskpaw liked to hunt butterflies instead of prey. Often Duskpaw felt drawn to plants she didn't know the name of and dreamt of starry cats. It wasn't long before she went to the leader with a request to be made medicine cat apprentice. Her wish was fulfilled, and she began a new life.
Meanwhile Leaftail's kits were being born, and there had been complications. Duskpaw acted as an assistant, and Leaftail pulled through, but she had been much more weak than before. Leaftail had also gotten a bit deranged, often taking long walks out of camp. Once, Duskpaw and Fernfrond were out hunting when they heard a squeal. It was Leaftail, caught by a fox!
The fox was starving, and Fernfrond made quick work of it. Duskpaw attended to Leaftail, what with her limited knowledge of warrior skills. But there was too much blood - too much injury - too many wounds. By the time they'd dragged Leaftail to camp, the she-cat was barely breathing, and Duskpaw knew she couldn't be saved. Before then she'd never really taken her responsibility seriously as a medicine cat apprentice, but that was the day everything changed. She'd watched cats die in the medicine cat den right before her eyes, but this was different. Duskpaw had had a chance to help this cat - a chance that was lost, because in her frantic situation she couldn't remember her training. Never wanting to feel so helpless again, Duskpaw began to work harder towards her goal of becoming a good medicine cat, and since then her skills as a medicine cat apprentice have improved tremendously.
Duskpaw is a young, bouncy she-cat who believes life is a wonderful adventure. She is an energetic youth that can often be found day-dreaming in the forests with a longing for excitement and challenges. Duskpaw is unbelievably free-spirited and can seem naive to the naked eye; she retains a blissful atmosphere even in the darkest of situations. As a kit she was often the main firebrand of the group; Duskpaw had, and still possesses, a knack for mischief. Ever since receiving the prestigious title of medicine cat apprentice, though, her vibrant energy has been incorporated into tending cats and memorizing herbs. Despite her outward appearance, Duskpaw is far from ignorant. She knows the vast territories of the Clans like the back of her paw; perhaps this knowledge will come in handy some day, or perhaps not. She is often egging on her mentor to take her to other places, across clan boundaries; many other Clan cats detest Duskpaw's obvious enthusiasm to befriend cats from other clans. Duskpaw doesn't let it bother her, though truthfully she is a sensitive individual who fears criticism but revels in praise.
The she-cat may come across as far too amicable for some cats. She is constantly trying to penetrate the cold exteriors of some warriors, trying to see past the arcane demeanors of the shadowed, quiet cats in her Clan and others. Duskpaw's main flaw is that she tries to be welcoming towards everyone and speaks from her heart. This is, in fact, her major weakness; because of her deep empathy for almost everyone around her, Duskpaw is far too trusting. But her luck has held out - so far the apprentice has never been betrayed... and unfortunately, that is the only way she will lose her willingness to establish new relationships. Duskpaw can be secretive and elusive when she wants to be. She is somewhat gullible but not air-headed. Her main problem is that though she believes in StarClan and respects those of higher rank than her, Duskpaw is mostly laid-back and doesn't always follow the warrior code... if her heart tells her to take a different path than her head does, she'll do it.
In battle, Duskpaw is certainly not a powerhouse of muscles; she is built like a stereotypical she-cat kittypet (even though she isn't one and has none of that blood) and therefore uses her wits. Duskpaw tries not to fight too often, verbally or physically, seeing as she is a medicine cat apprentice and all; but the playful she-cat will welcome a chance to catch up on some of her rusty battle techniques once in a while in the form of play-fighting. The she-cat has an innate sense of pity for those weaker than her, though she does look up to cats who are more powerful than her. Duskpaw's idol is mostly her mentor, Dreamsky, for without her guidance she would be a much more different cat than she is today. In terms of love, Duskpaw occasionally seizes the chance to flirt; she considers it to be harmless since she is so young, though she does not know there is a possible chance of it developing into something more. But when she becomes medicine cat, Duskpaw knows it'll be easy to close her heart off to love - she considers it a burden. It's enough for her to know that there's a special place waiting in StarClan for her, and she has the love and respect of all her Clanmates instead. Some think Duskpaw is unreliable and puts her allegiances in the wrong places. Truthfully, Duskpaw is a loyal friend who never has thoughts of betrayal or gossip; she is definitely one to confide in, and knows when to stop joking and become serious.
Duskpaw is also quite bold. She sticks her nose where it doesn't belong and tries to solve everyone's problems. Sometimes Duskpaw carries more burdens than she can keep up with, but all she wants to do is be helpful; the medicine cat apprentice hates disappointing cats of any kind. Though Duskpaw can stand her ground, and certainly can stick up for any of her friends or Clanmates if they require it, her sweet nature often interferes with the hot temper she inherited. So Duskpaw thinks of herself as the "better cat", trying to walk away and ignore taunts and jeers but not quite succeeding most of the time. Duskpaw is constantly talking, sometimes turning into a bit of a drone; but usually containing exciting news or something of the sort. Some cats consider Duskpaw annoying - because she is. She is not a quiet, wise type; Duskpaw resembles a hyper kitten in many ways, and perhaps she still hasn't matured past that stage quite yet.
