It was a quite day as Moonshadow walked stealthfully across the HollyClan forest floor, following the scent of rabbit. She had followed about half way back to her camp when she finally found it it was munching on a bit of grass.Moonshadow had first scented it the moment she step out of camp. She followed from the camp to the training hollow. She had followed the rabbits scent trail all over the HollyClan territory. Now the rabbit which was finally in her reach.
Moonshadow her chance was and took that chance as she sprang forward landing on the large prey landeing her strong paws on it sinking her claws into its neck to be sure it wouldn't get away. She then bit into its neck, the rabbits warm blood flooding her mouth. When it became still Moonshadow took her kill into a juniper bush next to a half fallen tree and buried it to colect later when she was done hunting.

The world is quiet when I sleep
Larkcry, positioned in a nearby tree, watched his Clanmate hunt. He had a squirrel and a thrush laid and buried near her very juniper bush, but he didn't feel like talking. He never did. Talking was overrated to him, and anyway, he doubted if he spoke anyone would hear. Moonshadow probably wouldn't even know who he was. He closed his eyes, opened them again, and began to lick his paws clean of blood and dirt. The bark of the tree was rough under his stomach, but he didn't mind it.
But you'll all laugh when I start to weep
His paws were soon clean, but that was when he noticed how dirty his ginger fur was. He was really just wasting time until the other cat left. He wanted nothing to do with anyone, anyway. He just wanted to be alone. He could just hear Littlesmoke's voice- Don't say that! Everyone needs somone! He gritted his teeth in grief. Yes, that's right. And I needed you. And you left me because some other toms thought you were pretty. Of course they did! You're beautiful. Always have been. An I had you first. He growled under his breath and twitched his tail, knowing it was only a matter of time before he was scented.
You think it's funny and I can't blame you

Amber eyes shone from the cover of the juniper bush as they watched their prey-a small brown mouse who was shuffling around in the leaves, unaware of her presence just as she was unware of the tom. The deep yellow eyes narrowed in concentration as their owner crouched down and held for two heartbeats.
A sleek spotted she-cat then jumped from the bushes, claws gleaming in the afternoon sun. Only too late did the mouse see the shadow fall over him, just before Moonshadows paws pinned him down and fangs cut into his neck. The she-cat picked in up gingerly in her jaws and slowly padded over to where she had hidden a rabbit in a juniper bush.
Moonshadow began to think about returning to camp or hunt for a few moments longer. She sniffed the air: mouse, thrush, her mouse she had killed, the rabbit in the bush, and the other cat. She guess the other cat was only hunting as she was, not know just how close he was.

Fine, then, if you must
Larkcry, not wanting to prolong the agony, climbed skillfully down the tree and landed on all four paws in front of Moonshadow with a quiet thump. Instead of greeting her, he jutted his chin in the air as a form of aknowledgement and turned to dig up his own prey, expecting to head back to camp.
You'd better not betray my trust
With a wan smile the tom realized that Moonshadow had known all along he was there, or at least for a while. She had just decided not to say anything. She'd tricked him into moving. He picked up the squirrel, flicked his tail back and forth for a moment, watching the she-cat, deep in thought, then dropped the rodent and sat facing her, waiting. Waiting to see what she would do. This was no ordinary cat. She spoke without speaking, like him.
Whatever you do or say, I'll be on my way

As the ginger tom came down the tree Moonshadow recognized him from camp. She had never had the privilege to ever speak to him but she knew his name was Larkcry. He didn't greet her like most cats would but he wasn't like most cats, he was rarely found talking to other cats. In fact Moonshadow couldn't think of a time when she had seen Larkcry talk. Deciding to follow him, she quickly pick up her rabbit and mouse and fell in behind him.
For a moment Moonshadow thought she had seen a tiny smile on his face but only guess she had been see things. Around other cats Moonshadow would find her self searching for words to say, finding nothing to talk about, but here with Larkcry the silents was almost soothing

Alright, we can do it that way,
He stood at the foot of the Great Maple, hearing Moonshadow follow behind him. He slipped behind the tree, dropped his prey, and glanced up at the branches of the tree. Quietly, he slipped into a small hollow, almost invisible to other cats, one where you had to leap up to scrabble into it. He was used to it, though- he often went here. He didn't know why he was showing it to the other cat, but he didn't mind it. It had never been his secret- he often scented other cats had been there.
I don't care how we play the game,
He, still not speaking, settled into the cool hollow. The warm sunlight could not reach him here. He slunk so that he was against the cool walls of the hollow, making room for Moonshadow should she follow him. With a slight yawn he flicked his tail patiently.
As long as I'm still playing it...

As Moonshadow follow Larkcry they came to the tall maple tree where she watched as Larkcry went around the tree and layed down his fresh-kill. Moonshadow did the same and put her prey next to his. Now he was hardly noticeable to Moonshadow but she could still just see him.
Moonshadow began to wander if she was to follow it seem that the tom had made room for two, but she could be mistaking. And if she was mistaking and went up there anyway that could be embrassing. Then there it was her sign that he really had made room for her. A small flick of the tail and that was all she needed. Moonshadow carefully climbed the tree in the same route that Larkcry had taken. Just when she had reached the top one of her hind legs slipped, but only for a second. Finally she quickly made it beside the tom.
It was cooler in the hollow, there was no sunlight here to warm Moonshadows pelt. But with Larkcry beside her she felt as warm on the forest floor as she had here in the cool sheltered hollow, if not warmer.
