Winterstar looked around the camp. Let's see... he pondered. Brambleheart was out with Dovepaw and Lynxfur was out with Goldenpaw....oh, and it looked like Blizzardpaw was out with Wolfheart. Winterstar sighed. SageClan was lacking warriors. He dug his claws into the dirt. Is that why the other clans think we are so weak?
He padded over to the warriors den, looking for Warmheart. The two of them plus Aspenpaw could probably go out on a patrol. "Warmheart?" he called in the den. |

The spotted tom's head came up quickly at the sound of his leader's voice. He flicked his black ears back and then forward again, puling himself to his feet. "Yes, Winterstar?"
Warmheart had been dozing, accidentally, as he had woken so early in the morning to organize patrols. He blinked the haze out of his eyes slowly and stretched, glancing around and seeing that the other warriors were out, probably with their apprentices. I should go get Aspenpaw, he thought, but he waited to hear Winterstar's command before he said anything. |

Winterstar gazed at his warrior for a brief second. He looked tired, organizing everything. I should take more responsibility... he pondered.
"Since all the other warriors are out with their apprentices, I was wondering if you wanted to take Aspenpaw out on a border patrol with me." he paused. "There are also some other matters...some matters that need discussing...." |

Warmheart's ears pricked up at mention of possible trouble. "Of course, Winterstar. I'll go get him right now." He was completely awake now, and didn't care if he didn't look it. His fur might be ruffled, his expression exhasuted, but he was ready for anything if his leader needed it.
He flicked his tail as he stepped out of the den, calling out, "Aspenpaw?"
His eyes searched the camp for the siamese apprentice.Then, with a jolt, he seemed to recall the apprentice having left the camp with Feathermist.
"Winterstar, I think I remember Aspenpaw leaving with Feathermist. Perhaps it will have to be just the two of us." |

Winterstar's ears twitched. No matter. Just the two of them would be fine. "That's okay, I suppose!" and it was. After all, Aspenpaw didn't need to hear their conversation..."Shall we go?"

Warmheart smiled and nodded, although he was starting to worry. What's going on? He wondered, but Winterstar didn't seem too upset, so things would be alright. And anyway, there was nothing the two toms couldn't work out together. Warmheart readied himself to follow his leader out of the camp.
