Bored Out of My Mind {Open}

Aspenpaw looked away from Feathermist's gaze. He had feared this question. He didn't want to answer it, but he knew he should.
"My mother was freindly with the two-legs but I wasn't. They scared me. Then when they left, they took my mother along and they left me." He stopped, he had to think about the rest of his answer. "My mother had always talked about the Clans out in the forest so I thought I could come and join and everythign would be great."

"No life is perfect. The Clans have seen starvation, illness and bloodlust. Still, we have many things that are better as well - loyalty, pride, indapendence and a sense of freedom and responsibility. I'm biased, but no matter what I would have stayed in SageClan."
Feathermist tucked her silver paws beneath her chest. She had also seen much death, in hers and other Clans. Her tail flicked, one day Aspenpaw would learn to accept the trials of being a warrior.

Aspenpaw nodded his head breifly and then he was lost in thought again. Why hadn't his mom stayed with him? What was so great about her two-legs. This tore at him and he felt like sobbing, but he wouldn't. He just shook his head and closed his eyes again.

....Feathermist sighed, her head sank as she felt exhaustion wash over her. When was the last time she had a good sleep? Her yellow eyes sunk into slits, and then closed full.

The she-cat awoke to the sound of paws, her eyes raised in surprise. She spotted Owlkit sitting infront of her, and she quickly scrambled to her paws.

"I'll help him."

Feathermist's ears pricked, what did he mean by that?

"I sent the wind to knock him down, but you like him a lot... You know, he might possibly be a future Medicine Cat. If he can open his ears to us. I will heal him quickly if that is what you desire."

Feathermist nodded.
"Thank you, brother. I don't think I-"

Her yellow eyes shot open, what time was it now. She sat up and her eyes gazed wildly around for Aspenpaw.

Aspenpaw sensed something happening. He could feel a presence near him. He twitched to get it away, but only woke himself up. His leg felt better. Almost perfect. But he moved his leg and wound up yowling in pain. He looked at the ground miserably. Why him? Why did StarClan punish him? Groaning he lifted his head a little higher and glanced around for Feathermist.
She looked agitated...scared maybe. "Feathermist, my leg is really hurting!" He mewled like a kit while he put emphasis on really.

Feathermist nodded, and her pelt prickled as she ventured into the Medicine Den. She picked up the poppy seeds, and took them back to the apprentice. "Take these, this should dull the pain."

She could feel anxiety rising - would Aspenpaw really be okay? More or less, did he belong in the Clan? Owlkit mentioned an apprentice.... A kittypet as a Medicine Cat Apprentice? Shocking... but that could be why Aspenpaw was sent to SageClan in the first place. Not long ago Feathermist was still under her mentor, but it seems StarClan has something in mind....

Aspenpelt gobbled down the herbs greedily and soon the pain subdused. He looked at Feathermist and was about to say thank-you until he saw her expression. She was definately agitated. Maybe it was because of his constant complaining. He startd to feel bad about getting hurt. Shifting his weight so he was lying on his good side he looked around the camp. He felt suddenly angry. Why did he feel like he wasn't wanted? He wanted to run away and never come back. But he couldn't. Not until his leg got better, then he would run away.

The she-cat's yellow gaze was fixed off in the distance. She wasn't sure what to do, Aspenpaw would make a good apprentice... she would have to do something if it was StarClan's will.

"Aspenpaw, do you think you'll be staying in the Clan forever?" The Medicine Cat had to know before she offered to train him. If he wasn't loyal there would be no point, but if he was she could even begin to start while he healed....

Aspenpaw as cought off gaurd and just stared at Feathermist in shock. What kind of question was that? he knew the answer was yes. Deep in his heart that was his answer. He smiled and then rolled back onto his side.

"My answer is yes." he paused breifly and then spat out, "Why? Are you gonna train me or something?" He smiled and then laughed. Then he stopped abrubtly. Maybe she did want to train him. That would be cool, being a medicine apprentice. He would love that, now that he thought about it.

Feathermist hesitated, what would she say? Did he already know? "If StarClan approves, and Winterstar agrees, I'll train you as the next Medicine Cat of SageClan." Her voice was confident, hiding any doubts she had from Aspenpaw. To become a Medicine Cat would take a lot longer than becoming a warrior, but if he was dedicated she would teach him.

Aspenpaw would have jumped for joy if he could've. He was going to be a medicine cat! He was so happy. The smile on his face was huge and it was just radiant.
"Oh i can't wait until I'm better now!" He mewled and smiled at Feathermist.

Feathermist purred at his enthusiam, but at the same time her heart ached. Aspenpaw would be a great apprentice... but she needed a sign from StarClan first. How could she know if he was right unless Owlkit or some other cat told her to....

This was a special moment. For once, the Medicine Cat decided she didn't need StarClan's approval for her choice. Aspenpaw would be her apprentice, no matter what any other cat said.

Aspenpaw noticed Feathermists....reluctance? Maybe he wasn't meant to be her apprentice? No, he was going to be the next Medicine Cat. He yawned and then rested his head on his good paw. He wanted to get better faster.
