Bored Out of My Mind {Open}

"That depends. If you just hold still I might be able to fix your leg," Feathermist replied softly. She grabbed the herbs she had laid out and set them in front of Aspenpaw. "Eat this first," her tail touched the thyme lightly. "Then the roots, after that I'll check if you need any poppy seeds."

The silvery blue she-cat padded back into her den only to fetch some moss for the apprentice, but found another cat already in there. "Owlkit?"

The brown kit lashed his tail and glared at her. He then padded back into the shadows of her den and disappeared into the wall. She took a deep breath, there wasn't a prophecy of any sort but..... She shook away the thought and grabbed her own bedding. She brought it outside and padded over to Aspenpaw to give him the bedding.

Aspenpaw didn't want anything from that cat. He didn't want to taste the nasty taste of herbs. He didn't want her to help him. He wanted to be dead! He didn't want to live. But he took the roots regardless and grimaced at the revolting taste. Finishing them off he lapped up the rest and then sighed. The pain was easing slightly, not it was a dull throbbing sensation.

Feathermist meowed quietly, "If your tired now you can have some of those black seeds. Once you calm down I can make you better. I promise, this won't stop you from becoming a warrior. You'll see."

Aspenpaw seriously doubted that. He had heard of cats who broke there legs and survived and wound up being a medicine cat or becomes a elder at like 12 moons. But he had to trust Feathermist, and if she said he was gonna get better he would.

"Feathermist, do you think my mother would care is she knew I broke my leg?" He asked out of nowhere. The question popped into his head and before he could stop himself he had said it.

"Of course! Any cat should care for those who are injured or sickly.... though I suppose I'm biased as a Medicine Cat...." Feathermist replied. She swept her long silver tail around her legs as she sat up. "You know, most of the cats who broke a bone and ended up having to become elders didn't listen to the Medicine Cat. Of course, that shouldn't stop any cat. A disability is like a scar or scratch - it shows that we are warriors fighting to survive."

That sounded kind of dumb I suppose, but it is true in it's own way. It just goes to show that we are warriors....

Aspenpaw's eyes sparkled with pain and tears as he remembered his mother. If he could see her again. It only he could fell her soft pelt. He could have helped her get away. Now the only thing he was doing was being a burden to Feathermist. Him and his stupid busted leg. Sighing he laid his head on the ground and pondered the thought.

The Medicine Cat licked his head, Aspenpaw look so sad. She could easily see through his emotions as she tried to cheer him up. He wasn't a Clan-born cat, but he still belonged to SageClan now. She swore her first duty would be to her Clan, and he was part of it.

Feathermist's tail curled around her and she meowed, "Would you like me to get you some fresh-kill?"

Aspenpaw sighed and then nodded his head slowly. He didn't feel like eating. But he knew he should. It would probably help him sleep. Though he didn't want to sleep. He wanted to run around and train with his mentor. But that wouldn't happen anytime soon. Closing his eyes he thought about his mother. SHe was a pretty she-cat. And she was plump and her fur was soft. If only he could see her again...

The Medicine Cat padded out to camp, quickly picking out a vole for Aspenpaw. She then went back into her den to see him nearly asleep. She dropped the vole in front of him and went on with tidying up her own den. The she-cat's tal twitched as she worked.

Feathermist could only think of how bad she was being. Not only did she fail saving her mentor and Blizzardpaw, but she also caused one of the apprentices to be injured. She shoud have gone alone - maybe waited until leaf-fall came and she could have easily collected them off the ground.

Her blue eyes clouded over as she thought of Owlkit. Did he..... oh no. He did, didn't he?!?

Aspenpaw was drifting in and out of sleep and the smell of fresh-kill aroused him and he woke up fully. Now he was hungry. His stomach growled and he moved just so slightly that he could get it. He mewled slightly as he moved his leg but the pain soon eased and he was able to eat in peace. The meat was slightly cold but it refreshed him and he was soon calm enough to sleep fully.

Feathermist checked on Aspenpaw again. He seemed to be asleep already, she padded into the den and began removing the cobwebs she had put on, replacing them with new ones. She also left more herbs for the tom to eat when he awoke.

Aspenpaw twitched in his sleep;

"Mother! Comeback!" Aspenpaw cryed and ran after her but she kept getting farther and farther away. Then she was in their housefolks arms and Aspenpaw was a hissing and spitting mess. He needed to stop, to get to his mother. But...they...the two-legs, took her away and handled her like an...animal carcus.

Aspenpaw twitched awkwardly and woke up. He noticed Feathermist had replced the cobwebs and left him herbs. He was hungry again. "Feathermist..." He called lightly.

The Medicine padded into the den, her ears pricking at Aspenpaw's voice. "Yes. What is it that you need?" She meowed politely. The silvery she-cat was a little uncertain about the apprentice now... he seemed to fidget an awful lot in his sleep. The she-cat flicked her tail and waited for Aspenpaw's answer.

Aspenpaw smiled to see the familiar silver pelt.
"I don't mean to be bothersome, but i'm hungry." he said feeling sightly guilty for taking Feathermist away from her duties. He rolled onto his back keeping his bad leg up lifted on his side. He looked at the roof of the den and sighed. He couldn't wait till he was out of his den and traning.

Feathermist nodded, and padded out into the clearing, returning wih prey for both of the cats. She set down a mouse for Aspenpaw, herself taking a small bird. She quickly took a few swift bites, not finishing the prey completely she looked up at Aspenpaw.
"What made you want to leave your twoleg to come to our Clan?"
