Bored Out of My Mind {Open}

Aspenpaw laid on his stomach with his hind legs out to the side and his front paws set far apart with his head between them. His eyes were slightly closed and he yawned with boredom. What was the point of being an apprentice when you didn't even have a mentor? The other apprentices had mentors, but not him. Why? Because he was a runaway kittypet! That was why!

Feathermist noticed Aspenpaw sitting alone in camp. He looked like he was feeling down, could he be hurt? The Medicine Cat padded up to him silently. "Hello, Aspenpaw."

She sat down next to him and curled her long tail around her paws after giving it a few quick licks. Her blue eyes met the one's of the apprentice. "Is something wrong?"

Aspenpaw looked up and smiled. "Nope everythings fine." He meowed and yawned. It was kinda lame, you know, having a warrior coming up and asking what was wrong with him. Wouldn't it be obvious? A runaway kittypet sad? Wouldn't one persume he missed his housefolk, even though he never even really met them. But then again, did anyone even care.

The Medicine cat gently smiled back. "Well, if you're not doing anything would you like to come with me to collect Oak leaves?" Feathermist's silvery blue pelt rippled with sunlight. "That is if you aren't too busy."
She picked up his scent, part kittypet but also part SageClan warrior. He probably didn't know the code yet, so this would be a good chance to teach it to him.

Aspenpaw's ears pricked and he raised his head. "Where do you find them?" He asked happily. He found the Medicine cats job fascinating. Jumping to his feet, he smiled and his tail stood stright up. He wanted to be a medicine cat so bad, he could feel it in his paws. If only he had the courage to tell Feathermist.

"Under Oak Trees of course. I'll show you the scent, I can dry them out myself. It should only take about a day or two in the Greenleaf sun." The silvery-blue she-cat replied. She padded out of camp with her tail behind her. She checked behind her to see if Aspenpaw was coming.

Her paws took her towards the only foresty part of SageClan territory. There were many leaves up in the tree, but none on branches she could climb on. The she-cat took a breath and turned to Aspenpaw. [Assumes he did follow her]
"Do you think you could climb up there to get those leaves for me?"

Aspenpaw looked up at the tree where Feathermist had probably meant and gulped. Up there? in the tree? Was she serious? He didn't want to go up there! He could fall and break something.
"Yep! how many do you need? " Walking up to the tree, he dug his claws in and started to climb. His paws started to quiver a little but he took a deep breath and carried on. Coming to branch, he reached out with his paw sunk his unsheathed claws in and side leaped onto it. Walking over to a big bundle of leaves he looked down and his eyes got wide. The ground was so far down! He froze.

"Just knock some down, I really don't need too many," she replied. As she watched him go up her eyes widened. The tree was too thin for him - it was shaking. No, wait.... it was Aspenpaw who seemed to be unsteady. "StarClan, what have I done?" Feathermist whispered.

The silvery blue she-cat padded under the branch, if he fell she would have to get something soft to land on... "Don't move!" She meowed and padded over to a tree a couple fox-lengths away. She tore off some moss from the bark and began to drag it back to the Oak tree.

Aspenpaw didn't hear her. He started to move back toward the trunk slowly. So far so good. If he could make it back without the branch break-Craaack! Speak of the devil. The branch had sbroke off were his paw had just been. Panicking, Aspenpaw yowled and dropped into a crouch. He couldn't fall! He wouldn't fall. ANd where did Feathermist go? She abandoned him! When he needed her most, she abandoned him!

Feathermist dropped the moss and turned her head to see Aspenpaw trying to climb down. The yowl had alerted her, she picked up the moss and tried to move as fast as she could. StarClan, help him!

Yet, it seemed as if they were against her. A strong gust of wind blew over the land. Don't fall, Aspenpaw! Please don't fall She willed him to hold on silently. She was almost beneath him, it would only be a rabbit length more!

Aspenpaw shook as the wind cut across his fur. He felt the branch sway and he shut his eyes tight. He couldn't fall! If he did, he would be dead. ANd if he lived, he would most likely not be able to be a warrior. He would probably never be able to become deputy, or leader. He had to become a warrior. But the branch shook violently and snapped off at the nob. Aspenpaw screeched as the branch and him tumbled toward the gound. "Please StarClan!" He yowled.

Feathermist lost all of her plan in that moment hurling herself under the apprentice. It couldn't happen again! She couldn't let any cat suffer the same thing as Blizzardpaw! She waited for him to impact, waiting for him, hoping he would be all right.....

Thyme, a herb good for calming anxiety or frayed nerves. It helped Blizzardpaw not lose his mind completely, but it couldn't stop him from losing pieces of his senses.......

Aspenpaw walked around in a unknown place. He could see his body slightly mangled on the forest floor and Feathermist. Was he...no! He couldn't be dead! He needed to become a warrior! He had too. Laying down by his body he sobbed silently.

A large glowing beautiful cat walked over to him and smiled down. "Go back Aspenpaw. You aren't ready, go back." The voice was beautiful and it flowed.

Aspenpaw twitched and let out a tiny painful yowl. Opening his eyes, he saw Feathermist and he felt intense pain his is front leg and his shoulder. Trying to look at them, he squeeled in pain and then his body went into a spasm and he slipped out of reality.

Feathermist felt Aspenpaw move before he blacked out. She lifted him onto her back and began to carry him back to camp. The weight pressed down on her - not just the apprentice's body, but the pain of letting another cat down.

The she-cat could feel her heart aching. This was all her fault, if she hadn't asked him to go up there he wouldn't have fallen. He wouldn't have been wounded or nearly killed. She reached the camp and let him fall off her, then grasped his scruff in her jaws and laid him down in front of the Medicine Den.

Feathermist was quickly in and out of the den. She began to move the leg back into place and covered it with cobwebs. She dropped thyme, poppy seeds and comfrey roots around her tail for when Aspenpaw woke up.

Aspenpaw twitched in his sleep, as he remembered the fall. The last thing he remembered was the ground rushing toward him and the horrible pain that cascaded through his body upon impact. Now he awoke. The surroundings displayed that of the camp and his shoulder ached along with his leg. Looking up at Feathermist, his eyes became filled with greif and sorrow and he rasped out a pitiful statement. "I'm never gonna be a warrior am I?" He wished he had never climbed into the tree, he wished he never followed Feathermist. Feathermist! It was all her fault! If it wasn't for her, he would still be able to be a warrior. He would still be able to be deputy, and possibly leader! But no, he had to sit around camp and become an elder at 9 moons, or however old he was! It was all Feathermists fault!
