Crimsonblood jumped through the trees as the wind whirled around the small trees. His yellow eyes pierced the hide of a small vole that scurried away from his itching paws. He needed that vole. He needed it! It would be his first catch in two days. The last time he went out to hunt, he let three mice get past him. But today, he would get it. If the stupid trees would stop smacking me! He hissed to himself as he leapt into the air and landed down on the back of the vole. A grin grew on his face and he threw his head down and bit into the voles tiny, plump neck and heard the satisfying crunch of bone between teeth. Now if only some cat were here to see him actually make a good catch.

Foxheart leapt from the branches of the Great Maple with a squirrel dangling in her jaws. Stupid squirrel had been on the ground when she found it. When it had climbed the tree at her approach she was just going to let it go, but no. It had to sit in a branch just out of her reach and chitter at her as though laughing at her failure. Well, she wasn't about to take that from a stupid squirrel. StarClan's claws, she hated squirrels; good for eating and not much else! It had been a tricky catch, but the stupid thing had cornered itself in a follow up a couple branches and she had made a quick end to it.

A couple feet away was the young warrior Crimsonblood and she dropped the limp gray body and looked over at him, "I see you're having good luck too!" she called as he ended the life of a vole. She picked up the squirrel and padded over to a hollow among the roots of the maple, dropping it there so she could pick it up later. Turning back and padding over to Crimsonblood, she meowed, "Do you mind if I join you?"

Crimsonblood jumped slightly at the sudden appearance of the she-cat, but was releived to find it was just Fireheart. At least it was a pretty cat that came. He was lost for words when she asked him if she could join him. Then again, he wasn't all that good with talking to she-cats. It just kinda happened when he became a warrior. But he knew if he didn't respond Fireheart would think that something was wrong with him.

"Erm..yeah...sure...join...you can. " Crimsonblood looked at the ground with a wierd expression on his face. Join you can? What the heck did he just say? Shaking his head, he breathed in through his mouth trying to find any scents of fresh-kill. To his dismay and slight amusement, he found that all he could smell was that of Fireheart.

Foxheart laughed, "Alright, then. Join I will you." She chuckled again, "You have a weird way of saying things," she flicked her tail dismissively, "Sorry if I startled you." She had learned to say startled over the moons, knowing that most cats, especially toms, didn't like it when you said 'scared'. She thought it was stupid, startled and scared are the same thing, but whatever. She just hated getting into those stupid little arguments because she had offended some tom's pride by assuming he was scared.

"With both our good luck so far, we should return to camp with loads of prey, huh?" She moved on, padding away slowly, looking back at him and waiting for him to follow, "That was a good catch by the way." She thought she might add on that little compliment. Another thing she noticed with toms, they seemed to really like getting compliments. Crimsonblood hadn't been a warrior for very long, and she didn't know him that well. She wanted to take this time hunting to remedy that. She was also curious to see how he compared to her observations of other toms, she was always looking for something different. Most toms tried to show off a lot, though it was sometimes funny to watch because they messed up a lot. She wondered if Cromsonblood would try to do the same.

Crimsonblood gulped and nodded. He tried to laugh but he just wound up coughing and nearly choking until he regained his breath. He loved the way her voice flowed out with no question or doubt in her words. It was enlightening. And the way she complimented him! He had never been complimented on his hunting before! Probably becaus ehs stunk at hunting, but it still felt nice to be complimented.

Bounding up to her, he smiled and regained his voice. This time he didn't slur his words and they came out perfectly.
"You wanna see who can catch the most prey?" He meowed and looked up at her with a big grin on his face. The kit inside of him was starting to show through and he was about to burst with anticipation and excitement.

"A contest...?" She didn't think about it for long, "It's been forever since I've done that! I don't think I've really done it since I was an apprentice. Sure, it sounds like fun! A cat's got to have some fun every now and then," she purred. She looked up at the sky, it was just before sun high, "We'll leave all of our prey in two piles here at the Great Maple, how about that? I've got a squirrel to start mine off. I guess you've got a vole."

She laughed as an idea occured to her, "I know it's silly, and we don't even really have teams since we're alone, but we should have team names anyway. I can be Team Squirrel, and you can be Team Vole!" She purred again, her tail lifting happily, "Or maybe I just miss being an apprentice too much. We don't have to have team names, I just thought pretending to be apprentices for a day would be fun." Her pale leafy eyes met his and were sparkling with excitement, "I sure feel like an apprentice, the way I'm acting." Though she didn't really care. Foxheart was an easy-going, social cat that liked to have fun more than most cats. This kind of thing was just up her alley.

Crimsonblood laughed at the suggestion but nodded either way. He was just out of apprenticeship himself to be honest and he already missed it. But this would be the perfect chance to show that a warrior can still act like a apprentice in times of worry and boringness. ANd he would be able to show off without actually hunting in front of the she-cat. "So...when do we start?" He asked as the question popped into his mind.

Foxheart flicked her tail, "Now!" and bounded away, laughing. As soon as she lost sight of him, she slowed and quieted, opening her mouth to draw in the scent of prey, ears pricked for the sound of tiny, scurrying paws. She paused as heard something pushing through the undergrowth, her eyes searching. She spotted a rabbit, nibbling on some leaves and grass. Dropping instantly into the hunter's crouch, she shifted her weight, making sure to be as silent as possible.

She crept forward, one paw at a time, until the rabbit paused and looked up. Right then she pounced, ending it quickly. She picked it up and carried it back to the Great Maple, placing it with her squirrel and heading quickly back out again for more prey. I really don't like hunting... but I do love winning! She purred as she loped away, she hadn't had fun like this in moons now!

Crimsonblood yowled and bounded off into a different direction of Foxheart. He would win! He needed to win! It would be great if he could beat an experienced warrior like Foxheart. Slowing to a walk, and then a halt. He relaxed his body nad opened his mouth to smell for prey. The smell of chaffinch filled his mouth and he was slightly caught off gard. He usually didn't find Chaffinch's until later. But if he could catch one...he would be so happy. Dropping into a hunters crouch, he started to creep forward toward the scent. Stepping through a hedge of grass, he hissed as the grass rustled. Startled, the bird took flight. Crimsonblood growled.

As she slowed once more so as not to startle any potential prey, she once again opened her mouth to draw in the scents around her. Her tail twitching in anticipation, she fell nicely into the hunter's crouch as the scent of sparrow drifted to her. I hate hunting for birds... they always seem to get away... stupid wings, if I had wings no bird would stand a chance against me! She crept forward until she could spot the small bird, paused to judge the distance, then sped forward, her paws light, as she approached, her reddish ginger fur must have stood out wildly against her surrounding, the sparrow took to flight. She leapt and twisted around in the air, trying to bring it down, but one paw just barely grazed it, two claws clipping the wing, but the sparrow kept in flight and flew awaqy awkwardly. She knew she must have injured it, but not enough.... "Mouse-dung!" she spat, her tail lashing a few times in annoyance. She was over it soon, however, and turned to look for new prey.

Foxheart padded back to the Great Maple with another rabbit in her jaws, setting it in her pile. Looking up at the sky, she could see the sun was just about on the horizon. Is it that late already!? She hadn't even realized how long they had been at their little contest. At least it would benefit the Clan in the end. She had caught two rabbits, a sparrow (she had found that injured one a short while ago), two squirrels, a grass snake, and five voles. A pretty good day's catch considering I don't really like to hunt! I wonder how much Crimsonblood caught....

Crimsonblood though, didn't have as much luck. He had missed 3 birds and almost got bitten by an adder. So he wound up with a fat vole, a rabbit, 4 mice and they wing of a sparrow. Stepping through the grass, he hung his head in embarrassment when he brought back his catches. His kill looked pitiful compared to Foxheart's. Dropping trhe prey he shuffled his feet and his tail twicthed. Sighing he looked up at Foxheart and smiled. "Well at least one of us cought enough to feed HollyClan." he laughed heavily and awkwardly before looking up at the sky also. It was getting late![/font]

As Crimsonblood returned with his catch, she purred amusement, "Ah, your catch isn't that bad." She flicked her tail to dismiss his self-deprication. "Don't worry about it... you want to take it back to camp now? It's getting pretty late and we've been gone for quite a while." She began picking up her catch, unable to carry a few pieces. She looked over at Crimsonblood and mumbled as best as she could through her mouthful of prey, "Could you get these last couple?" though it came out sounding a bit slurred.

(omg... for how long you've been waiting for this, it really sucks, I'm sorry, but I really can't think of anything else right now.... sorry!)
