Racoonmask took the initiative to lead the way out of camp, glancing behind him to see if the others followed. He made his way toward the SageClan border, calling behind him to the apprentices, "We'll pass the Hidden Cove this way. Remember it, it is a great place to hunt except in leaf-bare." He kept his pace easy and inviting so the new apprentices wouldn't feel rushed and tire trying to keep up. He was also open to letting Emberflicker take the lead, since she was the deputy.
Foxheart followed behind her brother, close to her friend Emberflicker. They traveled at the back of the group so they could eaily keep an eye on the apprentices and make sure they didn't wander off or fall behind. She was content to let her brother take the lead, she always was. He was a good leader, she remembered that much from their kithood and playing all those games together. He always took care of her and stood by her side, and she stood by his. His loyal deputy, she was as a kit, and he was Racoonstar. She purred softly as she remembered this. Turning to look at Emberflicker, she asked, "So how is being a deputy? Been having fun bossing us around?" She purred again to show her amusement.

Emberflicker smiled, and came to pace with her. She needed to stop being in the lead. For once, she could just be herself-not the deputy. "Are you kidding? You guys are a handful! I feel like I am jumping from tree to tree in not even a second!" She laughed, and finally sighed.
"No, you guys are great. I just sometimes feel like I have a lot of responsibilities. It sometimes is aggrivateing, since you can't have fun by being free and going to hunt, not just organizing them. I love my job, you know I do, it just gets in the way of knowing the warriors, not just commanding them. Do you understand?" She was vaguely aware that Racoonmask was the only one who was actually teaching the apprentices. Oops.

Copperpaw quietly padded along in the patrol. So far, their mentors were just chatting about nothing...oh well. He really wanted to start his training and become the best apprentice he could be. And that required getting rid of his overly excited siblings and their average mentors. His mentor was the deputy, and that would be great. Emberflicker could teach him all the inside things about being a warrior that Gingerpaw and Palepaw would never learn.
Palepaw was so excited. His paws were trembling with it. His chest rose with pride as he saw his very own mentor take control of the patrol and lead the group. He followed close behind Racoonmask, watching his every move.
Gingerpaw tailed behind Foxheart, her mentor, and Emberflicker. Copperpaw was a few tail lengths behind her, but still keeping up the pace. Gingerpaw was interested in the two warrior's talk, gleaning what she could. But she had one ear half turned towards Copperpaw. She and him had never been exactly close siblings, but he was acting strangly. It was almost like he was lost in his own thought, in his own problems. But what can possibly be troubling him? Gingerpaw wondered. There was nothing wrong...was there?

Foxheart nodded, "I think I get it... you're just so busy lately," she purred, amused, then added, "But I suppose now isn't the best place to chat!" As they neared the hidden cove, Foxheart sped up and overtook her brother briefly, wanting to show the apprentices that she did actually know what she was doing. Racoonmask slowed a bit to let her pass, and then they both stopped, looking toward the hidden cove. The pool was still hidden by the undergrowth, but the scent of fresh water was strong, "Can you smell it?" she asked, looking back at the three siblings. The cool, crisp scent of the water was as refreshing to the nose as it was to drink, "Lots of prey can be found around here most of the time, getting water or looking for food." She looked back at Emberflicker to see if she had anything to add.
Racoonmask nodded at his sister's reideration of what he had said before. Looking down at the apprentices, his specifically, he asked, "Understand? Even on the worst hunting days, prey can usually be found here because the undergrowth is thick and water is readily available." he looked over through the undergrowth to where the pool was hidden, "If you want, you can all get a drink before we move on."

"So prey can be found here even on the w-worst hunting days?" questioned Palepaw to his mentor, practically repeating what Racoonmask just stated but in question form.
"Idiot. That's what he just said.", Copperpaw said to his sibling, though none to playfully.
Palepaw hardly heard Copperpaw's rudeness, but heeded what his brother said. Palepaw shrugged and gulped down the water rather sloppily.
Gingerpaw pursed her lips, a bit angry at Copperpaw's remark. And as she padded to the river to get a sip, she said quietly to her brother, "Don't you think that was a bit harsh?"
"Who died and made you mum? Besides, we aren't kits any more. An apprentice's duty is to learn to be a warrior by being like a warrior the best he can. And a warrior can't second guess another warrior's words. Plus, warriors need to trust one another. When somebody says something, and then someone else says exactly what the first one said but in question form, it shows that they are not fully trusting each other. And why shouldn't Palepaw trust his mentor....? Copperpaw gazed cooly at his sister.
But Gingerpaw only looked sadly at her brother and shook her head. She padded to join Palepaw, but drank more neatly.

Emberflicker nodded, and said,"That about covers it here. Mice are the most abundant, I think. They like the roots for a home, and so they rest here. Good for us, we get home to a full stomach, while they-well, they're gone." she chuckled.
As she heard Copperpaws' conversation, she frowned. When her apprentices' siblings were drinking, she went over and said only so he could hear, "To be a warrior is to respect all others. Especially family, Copperpaw." She didn't approve at all to his rudness, and she was almost disgusted to him being so nasty to his own family. Then she bent her white and red head to add, "A lot of people would like to have what you do, to know and not take advantage of it is another." (Sorry, she's being harsh. )
